Destination Highlights
Valencia

No where in Spain is the contrast between the old and the new, the traditional and the cutting edge more visible than in Valencia.
This sparkling city on the Mediterranean offers visitors beautiful Gothic and Renaissance buildings, stunning modern architecture, fabulous food (after all, this is the birthplace of paella and Valencia oranges), great shopping and year round sunny weather. Your Spain trip is waiting! Contact the tourist office of Spain for information about Spain hotels, Spain flights, Spain travel deals and much more.

Valencia's first "golden age" of the 14th and 15th centuries is reflected in the beautiful Gothic and Renaissance buildings found in its old quarter. Complimenting these architectural gems are the stunning modern structures - a science museum, planetarium, aquarium and new performing arts center - that make up the $2.8 billion City of Arts and Sciences.

The city is also home to the renowned Lladró and shoppers can visit its workshops. One of Europe's largest food markets, the Mercado Central, a huge Art Nouveau cast-iron building, is here.

For this year's successful staging of the America's Cup, the port area was completely redesigned and a new state-of-the-art marina created. While its renowned beaches and mild climate draw swimmers, its waters offer some of the best sailing in the Mediterranean. And cruise lines have discovered Valencia - with an astounding 400% increase in ship visits in only six years.

Of course, the nightlife here could also be considered a sport. Many bars don't open their doors before 10 PM and the pulsating music continues until sunrise.
